About James Quigley

I am a native New Yorker who is loving life in North Carolina.

When I was young, I studied classical music at the Cirillo School of music in Bay Ridge Brooklyn focusing on piano (and briefly attempting violin).  Simultaneously I began Irish Accordion lessons at the Buckley School of music in Brooklyn.
My next formal training was when I was in my 20s completing one evening semester at the Julliard School at Lincoln Center while working full time on Wall St.

I’ve since played in bands for 25+ years with musicians of all skill levels, various musical styles, and diverse backgrounds. I’m lucky to have played with great musicians, great all around people, and great friends.

I’ve been fortunate to have met and perform as the opening band for artists such as : Blues Traveler, BareNaked Ladies, Counting Crows, The Outlaws, etc.

I’ve played bars, clubs, weddings, and venues such as: The Hard Rock NYC, China Club, Webster Hall, The Bitter End, Coney Island Amphitheater, The Circle Line, etc

My favorite genres of music to listen to and perform are: 70s Rock, cheesy 80s, &  anything Grateful Dead.

I’ve recently started playing solo shows and entertaining crowds here in the lake norman area.  Just me and my piano and a microphone … no backing tracks, no iPads, no crazy effects … just pure rock piano the way it was meant to be played.
